At the heart of the ExpressLayout Control lies a basic concept - You place controls within its 'groups' - the equivalent of container controls such as TPanel or TGroupBox. This in turn automatically gives your applications unique design time and runtime customization capabilities via a docking metaphor similar to the Delphi/C++Builder IDE.

With the ExpressLayout Control, you are freed from manual, pixel-by-pixel positioning of individual controls and liberated from runtime screen resolution problems so common in Delphi/C++Builder applications. Simply said, the ExpressLayout Control takes the miserably tedious process of UI layout and turns it upside down.

Automatic Form Layout and Management:

The ExpressLayout Control helps you bring products to market in the shortest possible time by reducing the amount of energy you spend on the design and manual customization of individual forms. It eliminates many of the tedious and time consuming operations associated with pixel-based form design, including manual control alignment.

Built-in End-User Customization and Layout Persistence:
Built-in End-User Customization and Layout Persistence

The ExpressLayout Control is both a developer productivity tool and an end-user customization tool. End-users are allowed to layout and manage their own UI - as their needs dictate - without seeking assistance from developers or being forced to use developer oriented tools.

The ExpressLayout Control supports full persistence - You can save settings to the Registry, INI file, and to a Stream.

Data Aware Layout:
Data Aware Layout

With the ExpressLayout Control, creating a detail form with editors bound to dataset fields is simple. You don't have to place individual labels and editors onto the form and then carefully align them to one another. You do not have to bind each individual editor to data and provide proper label captions corresponding to field names. With the ExpressLayout Control, all this is done automatically. You simply select a data source from the control's context menu or drag specific fields to the control to create layout objects and editors bound to these fields.

Labels, Splitters, Separators and Empty Space Items:

Labels allow you to display any static text and separators allow you to draw dividers between any layout objects. If you add a splitter to the layout, an end-user will be able to change the size of layout elements without activating Customization Mode.

Although Empty Space Items don't display anything - they are 'empty cells' within the layout table - they allow you to solve numerous layout-aware tasks.

Expandable Groups and Tabbed Groups:

Built-in Layout Groups and Tabbed Groups allow you to combine data editors and controls into titled collapsible panels or present them as tabbed pages. You can combine controls into groups, make them expandable and assign images to groups with just a few mouse clicks.

The ExpressLayout Control offers you the capability to persist layout options between application runs and provides WYSIWYG data printing along with data export to PDF format.
