Should I Use .NET for New Projects?

Needless to say, you are the ultimate judge regarding .NET 6 / .NET 8. Microsoft does recommend its use for new projects, but please be advised that .NET 6 is a Long Term Support version (LTS) and .NET 8 is non-LTS or Standard Term Support version (STS). Limitations also exist for WinForms. Micrisoft still ships the WinForms Designer for .NET 6 / .NET 8 apps as a Preview.

You don't have to port existing applications, thought it is an option you can consider. Microsoft will continue to distribute .NET Framework 4.8 with future versions of Windows. This means that your applications will work with newer Windows builds even if you don't port to .NET 6 or .NET 8.
