                                  • Hi team

i am looking for a solution with PictureEdit to achieve what i attach in this post.
Avatars that no matter the image shape, they will have round smooth corners and an extra option to display a circle of color for status purposes

any recommendation how to achieve that. i played around with many other custom controls, the results are way too limited.
either i have only one option to round the avatars but not with anti aliasing so its not smooth, or i can't create a smaller second circle in it.

can devexpress consider making such a control, since in our days it's kind of popular?

                                    thank you
                                    regards

                                    John

                                  Hello John,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. We greatly appreciate your opinion. I agree with you, it is a great idea. Currently, neither our PictureEdit nor other controls which can show images provide the capability to show circle images or images with round corners. One of possible solutions, as you know, is to create a PictureEdit descendant and then override its OnResize method. So, I have passed this thread to our developers and they will investigate a possibility of this implementation. You will be notified of our results. Please stay tuned.
Should you have additional questions, let us know.

                                  hi Alexey
thanks for your reply, i hope you can include that in your next release, but for now, i have tried all the hacks with the resize event, with the elliptic graphic draw trick, its nuh.....kind of ok, but as i said no smoother round corners and not easy to make a status label over it.

i will find a way to make the best custom control for m needs, i am sure about it, but the draw limitations is something i can't overcome! the shape is always going to be pixeled, and the draw when it happens you can see and feel that the backimage from square it hide and becomes round, so it doesn't also feel nice. maybe you can come up with something else, but i believe there is a need for a native control from your team as infragistics components have.

How large of images do you require? The WindowsUIButton panel does draw circular images (either horizontally or vertically stacked) but I do not believe you have much flexibility as to the size of the displayed image.

now its an image, and in the back the circle.... yes the image is larger than 24x24

As for your question - I've created a separate ticket on your behalf (T409838: PictureEdit - How about any extra layer on top of it, for status perpuses?). It has been placed in our processing queue and will be answered shortly.
