                                  • G'day,

After following the instructions to upgrade LightSwitch XtraReports for VS2012 from Version 12.1 to 13.1 in

                                    http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center/Question/Details/Q500750

we get the following error in the error list when running the application (web based):

                                    Unable to resolve type 'DevExpress.XtraReports.UI.LightSwitchReport, DevExpress.XtraReports.v12.1, Version=12.1.7.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a'

What is the solution to get these reports reporting again please?

                                    Thanks.

                                Hi ,

It seems that the DevExpress.XtraReports.v12.1 assembly is located in the Bin application folder. Please clean the solution of the application to delete all assemblies in the Bin folder. Hope this will help you.

                                Thanks,
                                Elliot

Thanks for your suggestion Elliot. Unfortunately a clean of the solution did not have any effect. Still get the error after a clean and a rebuild.

Attached is a screen shot displaying the extension settings and the error after installing 13.1.4 according to the instructions in the link in the OP.

                                  What do you suggest?

                                • Hi,

Please locate and open the licenses.licx file in a text editor (e.g., Notepad or MS Visual Studio code editor), clear its content, and save it. After that, clean and rebuild the entire Solution.

Let me know whether or not the problem disappears.

I also upgraded to v13 and am now getting multiple warnings similar to:

Warning     12     Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "DevExpress.XtraReports.v12.2, Version=12.2.7.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b88d1754d700e49a, processorArchitecture=MSIL". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. If this reference is required by your code, you may get compilation errors.     Server

I deleted the contents of licenses.licx, cleaned and rebuilt the solution to no effect.

                                • Hi Anthony,

Please clarify whether or not you have used the Project Converter tool to process your LightSwitch project files. This approach is not recommended because in some situations this may corrupt the original project. I suggest that you restore the original project from a backup and reinstall and re-enable the XtraReports extension for LightSwitch.

                                  Thanks Ingvar for your solution.

We deleted the contents of the licenses.licx file, saved it, and then cleaned and rebuilt the entire solution. This got rid of the error.

We then got another error 'a control must be selected'. The cause was that the upgrade changed the control types of the report preview screens from Report Viewer to Custom control (found the solution in http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center/Question/Details/Q340861). We modified all the control types of the report preview screens back to Report Viewer, and all the reports now work.

We appreciate the support. Thank you.

We must add that we are disappointed at the lack of robustness of this upgrade (13.1.4) - a lot of time has been spent attempting to upgrade DevExpress XtraReports and fix the resulting bugs.

                                • Hi,

We regret to hear that you have encountered such difficulties upgrading to a newer version. In most situations, instructions from the After upgrading and performing the DXperience 13.1 Project Converter, an error regarding upgrading Target Framework to 4.0+ is required ticket are sufficient to update your project. However, it is necessary to perform additional operations in certain circumstances.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that my assistance helped you resolve this issue. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.
