                                  • I have an application that I have to move from one computer to another. When running the application on the new computer I get an error saying "Could not load file or assembly 'DevExpress.Xpf.Printing.v11.1.Core, Version=11.1.6.5...".

I have tried to download and install the latest version of the DevExpress package (DXperience-11.1.7) and installed that. I have also cleaned the solution. After searching for this issue, I have also changed all the "DevExpress" references in my LS application to "CopyLocal", but the error persists.

                                    Any ideas?

Please create LightSwitch project with XtraReports Suite from scratch and check whether the issue is gone. Thanks for your feedback in advance.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Elliot

Created new application from scratch following your video "LightSwitch Reporting - Getting Started"
Came to the point where I have to write the code "ReportPreview.Show(...)", but ReportPreview is not available. All using statements are identical to the ones in the video.
Uninstalled the DXperience suite and downloaded and installed the LightSwitch Reporting package only.
Created a new application again from scratch and have the same issue.

The application will run without error, but obviously without any reporting.

                                • Hi Rune,

In the newest version of the XtraReports for LightSwitch, use the Report Screen to show your reports. Please refer to the How to: Use XtraReports in LightSwitch Applications article illustrating how this can be done (see the "Add a Report Preview Screen" section).

Please feel free to contact us if you need further clarification on this issue.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Sergi

                                  Thanks for your reply.

The new "from scratch" application is now working.

The original application is still having the same issue with the missing DLL. How can I correct that?

                                Hi Rune,

I am not sure whether or not it will be possible to run the original application. Please try to perform the following steps:

                                1. Set CopyLocal to true for references to DevExpress assemblies in the Server and ServerGenerated projects.
                                2. Modify the ClientGenerated/Config.xml file. In the <ExtensionAssemblies> section, remove all references to the DevExpress assemblies, except references to our extension assemblies (DevExpress.XtraReports.v11.1.LightSwitch.Common and DevExpress.XtraReports.v11.1.LightSwitch.Client).

                                Hopefully, this information helps you.

                                Thanks,
                                Sergi

                                  Thanks again for your reply.

That helped - now I get a message that "DevExpress.XtraEditors.v11.1.dll" is missing. I tried activating the "DevExpress Editors" extension too, but I get the same error.

                                • Hi Rune,

Thank you for your feedback. Generally, this problem may occurs due to some configuration problems which cannot be localized without looking at your code. I suggest that you use a new project to replicate the functionality you created in the original application. If you still want to use the original project, please post it here. We will try to find out the cause of this problem.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Sergi

                                  Hi Sergi,

This is not a five minute project, but something we have been working on for quite some time. I cannot start over, nor can I post our source on a web site, in order to use your components.

                                  Best regards,
                                  Rune

                                • Hi Rune,

We're working on your problem and unfortunately we need some time to analyze it. We will do it as soon as possible, and will let you know about our progress. Please accept our apologies for the delay.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Sergi

                                • Hi Rune,

We have received a couple of issues with a similar problem. Generally, this problem can be resolved by modifying the ClientGenerated\Config.xml file and setting the CopyLocal property to true for DevExpress assemblies. Thus, I suggest that you perform the following steps again:

                                  1. Modify the <ExtensionAssemblies> in the ClientGenerated\Config.xml file as follows:

                                    <ExtensionAssemblies>
                                      <ExtensionAssembly>Microsoft.LightSwitch.Extensions.Client, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35</ExtensionAssembly>
                                      <ExtensionAssembly>DevExpress.Xpf.v11.1.LightSwitch.Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B88D1754D700E49A</ExtensionAssembly>
                                      <ExtensionAssembly>DevExpress.XtraReports.v11.1.LightSwitch.Common, Version=11.1.0.5, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B88D1754D700E49A</ExtensionAssembly>
                                      <ExtensionAssembly>DevExpress.XtraReports.v11.1.LightSwitch.Client, Version=11.1.7.5, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B88D1754D700E49A</ExtensionAssembly>
                                      <ExtensionAssembly>DevExpress.Xpf.v11.1.LightSwitch.Client, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=B88D1754D700E49A</ExtensionAssembly>
                                    </ExtensionAssemblies>

Remove the DevExpress.Xpf.v11.1.LightSwitch.Common and DevExpress.Xpf.v11.1.LightSwitch.Client assemblies from this list if the "DevExpress Editors" extension is disabled.

                                  2. Set the CopyLocal property to True for our DevExpress assemblies in the Server and ServerGenerated projects.
                                  3. Try to build and run the project.

                                  If the problem still persists:

                                  4. Remove the DevExpress LightSwitch extensions from the project, clean all DevExpress components in the project folders and add the XtraReports extension back to the project.
                                  5. Run the project and check whether or not the problem still persists.

Please keep us informed of your progress.

                                  Thanks,
                                  Sergi

                                  Hi Sergi,

I have been able to run the project following your instructions - thank you for all your help.

I would feel a lot more confident in publishing my application if I did not have these issues though, so I hope you will still work on them to streamline the use of the components.

                                  All the best,
                                  Rune
