The referred article explains how to do that for WinForms. How do we use satellite assemblies to localize a ASP.NET application? Bear in mind that many times we won't be able to put anything in the GAC (shared hosting environment). I think that it would be at least expected that DevExpress provided a tutorial or article explaining all the steps of its "new" approach for localization that started with 11.2

                                • This approach is common for both WinForms and ASP.NET applications.
It is simply necessary to put satellite resource assemblies into the application Bin folder (if you are deploying without GAC access):

@Mike The approach is common but realization and using seems not. It would be nice to have an article where DevExpress describes a best practice to migrate from .resx ressources to satellite assemblies for APS.NET and MVC projects, including DevExpress's specific aspects.
And where we'll be able to clear some questions, like next one I have actually to ask: if somewhere we do GetGlobalResourceObject("DevExpress_Web_v12_1", "ASPxperienceStringId.Loading"), is there any equivalent to substitute it if we switch to satellite assemblies.... Thanks.

                                • @Roman: Yes, we agree that such a topic would be helpful.

                                  >>is there any equivalent to substitute it if we switch to satellite assemblies

In general, it is possible to use a similar code to retrieve the required resource when the "DevExpress.Web.v12.1.resources" resource assembly is loaded.

If this solution does not work, please create a separate ticket in our Support and describe the issue you have encountered in greater detail. A sample project would be helpful.

For versions prior to v2011 vol 2, the Neutral (English) resources for translation can be found in the %Program Files%\DevExpress 2009.1\Components\Sources\DevExpress.Web.ASPxGlobalResources\ directory on your disk. Copy them to a new directory, insert the culture abbreviation into the file name (e.g. DevExpress_Web_v9_1.resx -> DevExpress_Web_v9_1.it.resx, where it stands for Italian), and translate text values into your language.

                                • Hi Cheng,

Please refer to the ASP.NET Controls

                                • Hi Nadir,

Currently, we do not have Turkish localization for our ASP.Net controls.
This problem appears because generally we do not localize resources ourselves. Translated resource files were kindly sent to us by our customers. So, some elements may be not localized or localized incorrectly.
Please use the MissingResourceFinder utility (The collection of localized DevExpress assemblies) to find missing items and provide us with the resulting xml file.
We will update our satellite assemblies and provide updated resources.

I'm using DXperience 12.1 , and there is no DevExpress.Web.ASPxGlobalResources directory in the Sources directory.

Where can i download the GlobalResources files ?

                                  Hello,

we are having translations for Resx-Files for ASP.Net for cz, hr, bg, pl, ro, sk in the DX-version 10.2.8. The original Resx-Files are based on the Resx-Files in the different languages that DX provided at that time.
Now we want to update our project to DX-version 12.2.12.
As i see it there is now used dlls for transaltions.
What can I do now to continue using the translated ressources of those languages in DX 12.2.12?

                                  Thanks for your help, Philipp

                                • Hello Philipp,

The use of satellite assemblies is another option to localize a web application (see Localize DevExpress ASP.NET Controls Using Satellite Resource Assemblies to learn more about it).
The approach described in this article is a classic ASP.NET technique. It is fully supported and we plan to support it in the future.
Please note that there were four major releases between version v10.2 and 1v12.2. Some components could be greatly changed: some resources might have been be added, renamed or removed. So, some control elements can appear not localized if you utilize an old-version resource file.

                                  Hello,
I have included translations for Resx-Files for ASP.Net for cz, hr, bg, pl, ro, sk. These are the dx resx files from "dxKB K421 DXperienceASP v12.2 (2013 4 22).zip" with additional Translations based on DX10.2
I would be very happy if you could join these translations for future releases because it is rather tedious to merge existing translations with new resx versions. Besides, I think other DX-users might also appreciate more comprehensive translations

                                  thanks, philipp
