Managers like reports, programmers control and end users, usability. From a programmer's point of view, the vast majority of time is spent coding business rules and data-interaction, but without a good vision of how the information should be presented, or how the user will interact with your application, designing a whole solution can easily bottle-neck at the UI. DevExpress has bridged a major gap in this realm. The controls are well designed, fast performing and bring a modern edge to even the simplest of mockups. Furthermore, if you cannot discern a solution from the documentation or forums, their support staff is consistent in getting back to you within a working a day. I've been using DevExpress controls for over 5 years now, and their products are the foundation for much of what I do, even when the data is not bound to a data-source.
