                                  • Hi Guys,

i know and understand the the workflow server and module are not compatible with net core 3. but wouldnt it be possible to create a DevExpress.ExpressApp.Workflow.Core module - i mean some "light" version of the module.

i mean the you extract the code which is needed for the client only - so that an net core 3 client can at least create the XpoStartWorkflowRequest objects?

                                  Hello Noxe,

If you want to create XpoStartWorkflowRequest and other objects without any UI, you can already do this, because they are part of the DevExpress.Persistent.BaseImpl assembly.
However, I am not sure how it would be useful for most users without the runtime designer.

Taking into account that the runtime designer and related components require Windows Workflow Foundation assemblies, what would the DevExpress.ExpressApp.Workflow.Core module provide?

                                  Hi Dennis,

i‍n our case we already have 2 seperate applications. One admin ui - which i think we will leave on full framework - here admins can create workflows. And the client which will run on net core 3. clients only need to create startworkflowrequest objects. of course i also can take the code from the workflow module - but i thought i may open up a ticket.

Would you please briefly describe exact use-case scenarios from the end-user point of view and your current implementation (share controllers, if possible) for "clients only need to create startworkflowrequest objects"?
I guess it is something related to https://community.devexpress.com/blogs/xaf/archive/2011/07/19/manually-starting-workflows.aspx, but I wanted to be 100% sure.

We certainly have not planned to create such a lightweight module in 2019. If you implement it manually, we would also be happy to hear of your results. This and scenario information will help us prioritize any future decisions in this regard.

lets say an admin has created an workflow for objects of type contact - the workflow is fired when an contacts is created.

t‍he workflow module then creates the corresponding workflow start request objects. Thats the only functionality an „core“ module may need - everything else could be stripped away since it is mostly only needed for the server part?

                                  Thanks for your feedback, Noxe!
