          Provide a ListView Control

            • Pursuant to http://www.devexpress.com/Support/Center/p/CS14696.aspx. I have searched this issue and it appears that there entries going back to 02-20-2006. Now you have released “Release Candidate of DXperience v2009 vol 1” still with no mention of including this control. I spent a good sum of money to purchase your "DXperience Universal” subscription in order to provide my clients with professional applications and to expedite the development of said applications. I really love your controls, however it is very disconcerting that you seem to be ignoring your customer requests to include this control while stating it is unclear the ListView control needs skinning (Duh) and providing “lip service” as to your intent to create this control. Since I did purchase your source code I can create a control that inherits the ListView control but I have a very small development team and this will severely impact my release dates. I expect that you have a larger development team and it would be more expeditious for your team to implement this control while providing satisfaction to your customers. If necessary, my team will develop this control, however it will seriously impact my decision whether to renew my subscription to DXperience or to purchase a different control suite.

          Hi Billy,

We will implement this editor in the context of the Provide a ListView Control suggestion. For now, you can easily emulate this control by adding the standard ListView to our PanelControl. Thus, you will show skinned borders around ListView.

          Thanks,
          Plato

I have already placed the ListView control in your PanelControl, set the ListView border to none and set the background to the current skin color. This was a minor improvement, but did nothing for the appearance of the column headers, icons or fonts. It seems to me that 3 years should have been enough time to develop and implement this control yet the release date is still TBD. I expect the canned response, but I will ask anyway. When do you plan to implement this control? 2010, 2020 perhaps??

          Hi,

We are planning to implement the ListView control in the future. However, at the moment, we cannot provide any timeframe for its release.

          Thanks,
          Plato

I have attached an example of a Skinned ListView control. It was written in VB.NET but can be converted to C# fairly easily. I developed this control out of necessity and because you haven’t provided one yet and the release date is still TBD. I have noticed several posts from your customers here and on the forums that need this control. Until you release an XtraListView control, your customers are free to use, modify and distribute royalty free the attached control. Since some time was expended developing this control, I ask that if any improvements are made, please post the improvements for the benefit of everyone.

          Best Regards,
          Bill Reynolds

We have reviewed your code and it looks good. I have added a note to the original suggestion about your control. Thank you for the cooperation and your input. We appreciate it greatly.

          Thanks,
