Hi,

I'm developing DNN module that contains ASPxGridView (DNN 5.1.0)
It looks like the problem I encountered is not new - I saw other open issues, but no solution mentioned.

That's what I've got when the module is being executed:
"dxo is undefined"
... and that's the breakpoint (as it appears in VS2008):
<!--var dxo = new ASPxClientGridView('dnn_ctr378_ViewEnoInstances_instanceGV');
window['instanceGV'] = dxo; <-- here it breaks (looks like dxo is really not defined yet...
....

My configuration is as following:
XP SP3, VS2008, SQL Server 2005 SP3
....

Please, advise.
Thank you

Hi Mark,

Yes, we were informed of this problem, but could not reproduce it on our systems. We need a test project and step-by-step instructions on how to recreate the issue.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi,

I prepared a package that contains simple DNN module that reproduces the problem (at least on 2 different environments).

Steps:
0. You'll need WinXP SP3, VS2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 SP3
1. Install DNN 5.1.0
2. Extract the package to the DesktopModules ("unzip" will create MyModuleWithGridView folder)
3. Open corresponding Project from the folder
4. Execute CreateInstances.sql (you'll need to set DB name)
5. Update Project properties (URLs in the WEB tab, in case you'll wish to debug)
6. Build the project (the output dir is set to be DNN's site BIN)
7. Launch DNN site as HOST
8. Register new module (I think you know how)
9. Add module's instance to HomePage
10. Here the problem appears

Hopefully,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your test project. We are trying to reproduce the problem. I'll keep you informed of our progress.

Thanks,
Nick

I think it's worth mentioning that I use IE8 for testing.
I'll try to check whether the same problem appears in IE7

Hi Mark,

I tend to think that this problem is caused by the server and has nothing to do with the browser. Nevertheless, we've tested your situation with IE8, but couldn't reproduce it. Do you have any additional instructions that may help us recreate the problem on our side?

Thanks,
Nick

well...

Probably, you can guide me how to "trace" the script or perform any other debugging activity that might help to understand the problem.

I would have given up if I knew I'm alone with such a problem :)
It looks like other guys fell into this as well.

Regards,
Mark

Hello Mark,

The error occurs when the ASPxGridView scripts are not loaded, so I'm afraid there is no relevant code to debug. In any case, you can try to use the Firebug plug-in for the Firefox browser to debug script errors. Please let us know if you find out anything. I'm going to set up a new test system with DNN and re-test this situation.

Thanks,
Nick
