We are converting our web site project to a web application project and when we build the project we receive numerous errors like the one in the subject of this ticket. Here are some more examples:
The type or namespace name 'ASPxCallback' does not exist in the namespace 'DevExpress.Web.ASPxUploadControl'
The type or namespace name 'ASPxPopupControl' does not exist in the namespace 'DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.Export'
The type or namespace name 'ASPxPopupControl' does not exist in the namespace 'DevExpress.Web.ASPxDataView'
Not sure what we are missing as all assemblies have been added to the references of the project.
We did discover the cause of the problem and the problem was Visual Studio. When we did the original "Convert to web application" the ".designer" files were not generated correct by Visual Studio. We ended up needing to remove all the ".designer" files and then regenerate them all again. This resolved the issue for us.
I suggest you convert your project using the Project Converter of a recent version. Also make sure that the DevExpress.Web.dll assembly reference is registered in web.config. The project's Bin folder should not contain any old version assembly.
If you wish, you can create a new sample with a couple of DevExpress controls to test whether or not all necessary assemblies have been installed correctly. If the sample operates correctly, but the described steps do not help solve the issue in the main application, would you please send it to us for investigation? I believe that you can remove almost all pages from there and keep only one or two before sending the project to us.
