                                  • Hi,

I installed DX12.1 on my laptop and PC, on both systems all my devexpress components were removed (the 11.x) and no 12.1 toolbox items were visible.

I ran the toolbox creator for my old versions, and ran VS2010 SP1 as found in other posts.

After running SP1 my DX.12.1 items are there but they are double (I see every item 2x).

As a manager I am testing the new version before giving it to my collegues, but this installations procedure (install dx 12.1, install vs2010 SP1, run toolbox creator's, remove duplicate toolbox items) is a bit complicated this way.

Is it possible to provide a toolbox creator and/or fix this badly behaviour of the installer?

                                    Regards,

                                    Rene

                                Hi Rene,

                                Thank you for contacting us.

With version 12.1 of our components, we have changed the registration mechanism of our controls on the Visual Studio toolbox. To solve the issues with toolbox items for versions 12.1 and later, please follow instructions given in the How to completely reset the Toolbox and enable Visual Studio to rebuild it from scratch KB article. For more details, refer to the How to resolve issues with Toolbox items (Applies to versions prior to 12.1) thread.

I hope that you will find this information useful. Please feel free to reactivate this ticket if you need any further assistance with this issue.

I read this answer on other postings (great copy&paste), is DevExpress in denial there is an issue with the new installation?

Is this going to be fixed in the next release, because as it is now it would take every developer at least an hour to install and fix the DevExpress installation.

                                • Hi Rene,

As you have likely noticed when reading other tickets, these toolbox problems may be caused for different reasons that do not directly relate to our products (for example, important registry keys may be missing). Although VS continues working in these scenarios, its built-in toolbox registration mechanism is broken and this affects our controls.

We are considering improving the DXperience installer to help you detect potential problems at the installation stage and suggest immediate solutions. We have noted your feedback and we look forward to making the installation process easier.
