Thank you for the clarification. The only way to achieve this behavior currently is to add an additional column to TreeList that will show checkboxes. You will also need two data templates - with and without CheckEdit and CellTemplateSelector to show checkboxes only in selected nodes. Attached is a sample project illustrating this approach.
