                                  • Hi,

I have a master - detail page. My master page header and footer are different from my detail page. So i created two different xtraReports. Now I place the sub report control in my master- page report footer. The report is working fine. Now I have to create (as i got info) header and footer for the master report now i have problem where to place my sub report. i tried placing the sub report control after the master page footer info.

                                    Could you advice?

                                    Thanks & Regards,
                                    Anitha.

                                Hello Anitha,

Thanks for posting your project files. I believe I understand your scenario, but I'm afraid the current XtraReports implementation can't handle it properly. To be exact, you can't display the subreport's PageHeader/PageFooter instead of the main report's PageHeader/PageFooter. At this point, the only work-around is to join two reports into a single report, and place each report content into the DetailReportBand instance. You can use GroupHeader and GroupFooter bands to emulate page headers and page footers (GroupFooter band can be docked to the bottom of the page by setting its PrintAtBottom property to True). DetailReportBands can be separated by setting the PageBreak property of the second DetailReportBand instance to BeforeBand. I've created a sample report layout to illustrate this concept. Please refer to the attachment and let me know if this approach seems fine to you.

Also, please note that the report's DataSource should be empty. Otherwise, DetailReportBands will be printed according to the number of rows, contained in the XtraReport.DataSource collection.

                                Thank you,
                                Alex.

                                Hi,

Is there anyway i can supress the page header and page footer only for the first page. Because the 1st page has different page header and footer and sub report has different page header and footer because of the information.

Could you confirm me is there anyway i can supress the page header and page footer of the PRD_Master to appear only on the first page and rest of the page supress it.

                                Thanks & Regards,
                                Anitha.

                                Hello Anitha,

Thanks for the feedback. The problem is that the PageHeader and PageFooter of the subreport don't act like the PageHeader and PageFooter of the main report. So, even if you suppress the main report's PageHeader/PageFooter, the subreport's PageHeader/PageFooter won't be printed.
I believe the easiest work-around is to merge your reports into a single document as illustrated in the sample report layout I've posted.

                                Thank you,
                                Alex.

                                Hi Alex,

Thank you for your help. I have tried your sample project. I could able to sepeate 1st page and 2nd page. Now i am facing another problem. Now the report shows 1 to 90 pages. Actually by right it showed 4 pages. 1st page and 3 pages (based on the items in the 2nd detail page).

Please look into my attached example and could you help me to fix the problem.

                                Thanks & Regards,
                                Anitha.

                                Hello Anitha,

I see your problem. As I've mentioned, you should set the report's DataSource property to Nothing. Otherwise, DetailReportBands (DetailReport and DetailReport1 instances of your report layout) will be printed according to the number of rows, contained in the certificate1 DataSet instance.
To avoid this problem, adjust DataSource, DataMember and DataAdapter properties for each DetailReportBand. Please update your report layout, and let me know if you are still experiencing any problem.

                                Thanks,
                                Alex.

                                Hi,

Thank you for the help. My second detail (report 2 may contains more than 10 records). So i want to print the detail1 i.e report1 only once and the 2nd detail i.e. report2 should print 10 records per page.

As per your advice if i remove the source from the detail band, then how would l give the datasource to the reports? during page initialization? I am not clear in this part. Could you help me how to do that.

Now the first report (detail1) print only once. That is ok but the 2nd detail print only the first record and it shows 95 page the same thing. This is a very urgent requirement.

Or is there any way i can have two different templates and page1 (xrReprot1), page2 (xrReport 2) and when it view in the report viewer i should combine to gether and shows with 2 pages or something. A

But as per your advice i tried with sub report control. if i place the sub report control in the report footer of the first page i don't have space for the first page footer element. I am really confused how to do that?

                                Thanks & Regards,
                                Anitha.

                                Hello Anitha,

Please note that you should set the report's DataSource property to Nothing, because the main Detail band in your scenario is empty. Since your reports are contained within DetailReportBands, you should only adjust DetailReportBand.DataSource, DetailReportBands.DataMember and DetailReportBands.DataAdapter properties. If you are still unable to get a correct result, please post the latest revision of the report layout you created, so I can check if there's another problem.

                                Thank you,
                                Alex.
