Revolutionary Tile Control for WPF and Silverlight
The DevExpress Layout Control has been extended with a new TileLayout option, allowing you to replicate the look, feel and behavior of Windows® 8 and thus target next generation devices with ease. Whether using WPF or Silverlight, the Tile Layout Control allows you to re-imagine the way in which an application interacts with end-users and build dashboards that are ultra-efficient and fully customizable.

Inplace Layout Builder
The new on-form Layout Builder allows for on-the-fly layout generation for the Layout Control. Dedicated tool buttons help you quickly add layout items and groups to the layout and append tabs to tabbed groups.

Miscellaneous
There are a number of miscellaneous enhancements to Layout Controls including:
-
FlowLayoutContol - Flow breaks are automatically created and removed during item drag-and-drop.
-
FlowLayoutContol, LayoutControl and ScrollBox - These controls can now be scrolled by dragging their backgrounds.
-
FlowLayoutContol, LayoutControl and ScrollBox - Animated scrolling using Mouse Wheel.
-
DockLayoutControl and FlowLayoutControl - The layout customized by an end-user can now be saved to and loaded from a data store.
-
FlowLayoutControl - Item drag-and-drop animation support.
-
FlowLayoutControl - MVVM design pattern support. New properties have been added that help you easily generate items from your View Model.
Much like its WPF counterpart, the Silverlight Project Wizard helps you quickly create applications for the Silverlight platform when using DevExpress Silverlight controls. The Wizard can be executed directly within Visual Studio:

The wizard lists all DevExpress Silverlight Controls that can be integrated into the new application. You can select the appropriate controls by using the check boxes next to product names. Most entries also provide a choice of layout styles.

The DevExpress Silverlight Project Wizard supports both C# and Visual Basic.
Miscellaneous
Newly introduced project item templates make it easy to add DXWindow and DXDialog objects to your Silverlight projects:
