Ability Software

Ability Software Limited is a small Irish software solution and consultancy provider that operates primarily in the Windows and IBM AS/400 arena, but has been known to do the odd project in Java or on Linux.. The company was started in 2000 and employs 5 full-time developers and one-part time consultant. According to Darren McBride (proud Owner) - "We felt, from the very beginning, that Microsoft struck gold with the Outlook interface. So the answer is - 'We needed to mimic Outlook'."

Using the ExpressQuantum Grid Suite, Express Navbar Suite, Express Bars Suite and Express Printing system they were able to create an outlook style User Interface for their Frameworks and Tour operator application.

As McBride puts it "I felt the Express Quantum Grid was the closest match to Outlook functionality, and still is. Nothing else can touch it. It works. It always works. It never fails. It never crashes. It's bl**dy amazing is what it is."

Explains McBride "We don't tend to face too many challenges on the interface front, as the components from Developer Express tend to make the whole thing look professional. I generally look forward to new Developer Express product releases, as I get to show them off to our customers and make it look like we did all the work."
